Who we are

Calorie Papa is operated by Nutri Expert Limited, Unit 8, 7/F, Block S-T, Valiant Industrial Centre, 2-12 Au Pui Wan Street, Fo Tan, New Territories, Hong Kong. Questions? Email papa@caloriepapa.app.

Data we collect and why

• Meals you log — the text, photos or dictated meals you provide are sent to our backend and processed by Google's Gemini AI to estimate calories and macros. They are used to give you your result, not to train AI models.
• Your profile — sex, age, height, weight, activity level, goal and diet mode are used to calculate your daily targets. These are stored on your device and are not sent for AI analysis (see the next section for the one narrow exception).
• Your account — we use Firebase Anonymous Authentication. No name or email is required to use the app.
• Usage & diagnostics — Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics help us understand how the app is used and fix crashes.
• Advertising & attribution — AppsFlyer helps us understand which campaigns bring new users. Your advertising identifier (IDFA) is used only if you allow tracking via Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt.
• Purchases — RevenueCat and Apple manage your subscription status. We never see your card details.

AI analysis: what we send, and what we don't

Meal estimates are generated by Google's Gemini AI, reached through our own backend over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection.

We ask first

Before anything is sent for AI analysis for the first time, Calorie Papa shows a consent screen that explains what will be sent and to whom. Nothing is sent until you agree. If you decline, no data is transmitted and the AI features stay switched off.

What is sent when you log a meal

• The meal photo you chose, or the meal text you typed, or the text your speech was transcribed into.
• Your time zone.
• Your unit preference (metric or imperial).

What is sent when you open your Weekly review

• A summary of your week: days logged, average calories and macros, your current streak, your goal (lose, maintain or gain) and your diet mode (keto, low-carb or balanced).

What is never sent

• Raw audio. Your voice is converted to text before anything leaves the app — we receive only the resulting text, never a recording. Transcription happens on your device where your device supports on-device speech recognition; if it doesn't, Apple's speech recognition service performs the transcription under Apple's privacy policy. We never receive or store the audio either way.
• Your body measurements. Your sex, age, height and weight are never sent for AI analysis.
• Your identity. No name, no email, no account details — because the app doesn't have them.

Third parties

We share limited data with providers who help run the app: Google/Firebase (including Google's Gemini AI, which processes your meals to estimate calories and macros), AppsFlyer, RevenueCat, and Apple. Each processes data under its own privacy policy. We require every third party that receives your data to provide the same or an equal level of protection for it as described in this Privacy Policy, and to use it only to deliver their service to us — not for their own purposes.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with data brokers.

Tracking (App Tracking Transparency)

We ask your permission before any tracking, using Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you decline, no advertising identifier is used. You can change your choice at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

Where your data is processed

Our providers operate internationally, so your data may be processed on servers outside your country, including outside the EEA and the UK. Wherever it goes, the protections described in this policy continue to apply.

Keeping and deleting your data

Meals and profile details are kept while you use the app. You can delete everything at any time from Profile → “Delete all my data”. This removes your meals, profile and settings from your device and deletes your anonymous account. Meal photos and text sent for analysis are retained only as long as needed to produce and deliver your result. Aggregated analytics and crash data cannot be tied back to you.

Children

Calorie Papa is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your region), and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or erase your personal data, and to object to or restrict its processing. Because the app is anonymous, the fastest route is the in-app control at Profile → “Delete all my data”. You can also contact papa@caloriepapa.app and we'll help.
